The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center (OSM) has merged with Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists (COS) and is now able to bring a new level of care to its patients.
“Part of the reason that we all got into medicine is to take good care of patients,” suggests Dr. Michael Redler, an orthopaedic surgeon with OSM. “Joining COS means we now have access to new resources that our patients wouldn’t have had before. For example, we have the ability to confer regarding difficult patients because now we have a lot of experts who are spread throughout the state. Also, being part of the bigger entity that handles all of our administrative tasks allows us to really concentrate just on taking good care of patients.”
“OSM patients will notice some changes,” notes Glenn Elia, CEO of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists. “However, those changes will all be for the better. They can still see their doctor at OSM, but that doctor will be supported by an organization that is close to statewide now and that has its own hospital and outpatient surgical center.” Mr. Elia also explained that there will be technology upgrades at OSM in the very near future. “Patients will check in on new tablets that update the new OSM electronic medical record system. They also will have access to a new X-ray system and very extensive physical therapy resources and facilities.”
OSM surgeons specialize in all aspects of bone and joint surgery as well as sports medicine and spine surgery. The team also consists of chiropractors, physiatrists, physician assistants, and athletic trainers. OSM has offices in Trumbull, Fairfield, Shelton, and Westport as well as The OSM Therapy Centers in Trumbull, Fairfield, and Shelton. OSM also offers a walk-in clinic, OSMSTAT, at the Trumbull and Westport locations for urgent orthopaedic needs.
