Dr. Smith is a board certified primary care sports medicine physician specializing in non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries. She earned her master's degree in exercise physiology prior to earning her medical degree at West Virginia University. She then went on to complete her residency training in pediatrics at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, CT. She then remained on faculty there for three years as a pediatric attending physician in the emergency department. Following this, she furthered her education by completing a sports medicine fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. There she worked with high school, college and professional athletes. Her special interests include prevention of sports injuries and pediatric sports medicine.
Sage performed his residency in Family Medicine at The Stamford Hospital/Columbia University program where he focused his training in sports medicine. He is Board Certified, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is a team physician for the University of Bridgeport as well as for St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, CT and is also a full time staff member at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Prior to medical school he graduated from the University of Richmond and later graduated with a Physician Assistant degree from Cornell University. As a Physician Assistant he earned a Certification of Added Qualifications in Orthopedic Surgery, and worked in orthopedics and sports medicine to provide care for multiple sports teams and athletes. Additionally, he gained a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on health management and finance from New York University.
His special interests include musculoskeletal injections, non-operative fracture management, athletic injury treatments and prevention as well as pediatric and adult primary care.
